Design

This saree tells the story of the wedding of Ram and Sita. Janakpur in the Mithila region was the kingdom of King Janak and the birthplace of Sita, and the Ram-Sita vivah held there is among the best loved stories in Indian tradition. Madhubani painting grew out of Mithila, and its artists have painted wedding scenes and the divine couple for generations, so the story and the art come from the same land. On Janakpur Gaatha, each stroke is placed by hand on the fabric, so you wear a piece of living folk heritage. It is a meaningful choice for weddings, vivah ceremonies and festive occasions.

Care

Dry clean only. Store folded in a soft muslin cloth and keep away from direct sunlight and moisture, so the hand painted colours stay vibrant.
