Description

Kaccha Rang is a handwoven off white Muga Tussar silk saree with a temple-design zari border. The name means raw colour, the shade before it is finished, honest and unhurried.

The fabric brings together two of India's most distinctive wild silks. Muga carries a natural sheen that deepens with age and wear. Tussar lends the weave its slubby, textured hand and easy drape. Together they give Kaccha Rang a tone that looks different in daylight, lamplight and everything between.

Fabric: Muga Tussar silk, handwoven

Border: Temple design in zari, on both edges and pallu

Colour: Off White

Saree length: 5.5 metres

Blouse piece: 1 metre, unstitched

Silk Mark certified: Yes

Design

The border is woven in the temple design, a row of triangular motifs inspired by Indian temple architecture and one of the oldest motifs in Indian weaving. It is worked in zari along both edges and carried through the pallu, so the gold reads clearly against the silk without overwhelming it. Comes with Silk Mark so you know it is authentic.

Care

Dry clean only. Muga strengthens with age, but the zari needs care. Store the saree folded in a muslin or cotton cloth, never in plastic, and keep it away from direct sunlight and damp. Refold along different lines every two or three months so the zari doesn't crack along a permanent crease. Avoid spraying perfume or deodorant onto the fabric.
